The color of garnet on the rim and a deep, opaque core of ox blood grabs the light. Initially, the bouquet delivered red currant, plum and graphite. The initial taste delivered the same across a brightened palate. Following decanting, the wine seemed to close down a bit and never delivered the “brightness” sensed on the initial taste. The mid-palate and finish were a bit muddled. The fully resolved tannins skate across the palate and the mouthfeel is gorgeous, but there is a hollowness in the mid-palate flavor-wise. Gritty sediment captured on the shoulder during its decanting. 13% alc. With mushroom risotto. 11.06.25. Recommended.
