Lirac Domaine Des Muretins 2014
Both of the plots in Lirac have wonderful, relatively clay-laden soils: stony terraces on a clay-sandstone base, alluvial deposits of red earth and shingles, uneven layers pebbles on a thin layer of marl.
The vines located on the plot of Fournas, planted in syrah, grenache, mourvèdre and cinsault are between 20 and 25 years old. It is from these vines that the cuvée La Parcelle, quintessence of the Estate, is elaborated.
The wine was partially aged in tanks and in oak barrels for 18 months

Red Rhone from Tavel Rose country. The 2014 ready now unlikely to improve.
Quite substantial with good colour fruit and poise. Easy drinking by Rhone standards and not rocket fuel in alcohol content. A one off purchase at well below the usual going rate!
