Unfiltered. Bottled 1998.
Appearance: Clear ruby colour, medium deep (for a port). Noticeable but not very much sediment (for a port).
Nose: Deep red fruits; cherries, craneberries, some chocolate and liqorice.
Taste & palate: Medium sweet attack, nice and medium spicey/minerally tannins, medium full body. Chocolate finish which transits into a long, juicy and quite spicy, minerally aftertaste. A rather dry style of LBV with a nice punch and good fruit/tannin/acidity balance, but lacking the extra complexity (which would have been typical of a good Vintage Port). But still very enjoyable and a great buy!
20 years old. Should drink very nicely over the next 3-5 years, possibly quite a bit longer.
